Jordan Condemns Israel's Decision to Convert Lands in the West Bank into "State Property"
SadaNews - The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the actions of the Israeli government targeting the annexation of occupied Palestinian territories, the latest of which is the decision to convert lands in the occupied West Bank into what is termed "state property".
The ministry affirmed that this step constitutes a violation of international and humanitarian law and undermines the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, to end the occupation, and to achieve their independent sovereign state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Majali, stated that the Hashemite Kingdom categorically rejects and condemns any Israeli attempts to impose sovereignty and Israeli laws over the West Bank, in violation of international law, the existing legal status, and United Nations Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution 2334, which condemns all Israeli actions aimed at changing the demographic composition and character of the Palestinian land occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.
Majali referred to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice which confirmed the illegality of Israeli occupation of Palestinian land and the invalidity of building settlements and annexing land in the occupied West Bank.
Majali warned against the continuation of Israeli illegal policies and its violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, reiterating that any Israeli action in the occupied Palestinian territories is illegal.
Majali called on the international community to bear its legal and moral responsibilities and to compel Israel to halt its escalation and unilateral actions in the occupied West Bank, emphasizing that achieving the rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them establishing their independent state, is the only path to achieving just and comprehensive peace and ensuring security and stability in the region.
