Trump Sends Second Aircraft Carrier to the Region and Issues a Warning to Iran

SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed today, Friday, that a second aircraft carrier will soon head to the Middle East, which increases the military threat to Iran amid negotiations over its nuclear program.

Trump told reporters when asked about reports indicating the transfer of the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier from the Caribbean to the Middle East: "It will leave very soon... if we do not reach an agreement, we will need it."

He also reiterated his warning to Tehran, saying, "It will be a bad day for Iran if the negotiations do not succeed."

The Largest Aircraft Carrier in the World

This comes after informed sources revealed that the U.S. aircraft carrier "USS Gerald R. Ford" will head to the Middle East to join the "Abraham Lincoln" currently in the Arabian Sea.

A person familiar with the plans stated that the largest aircraft carrier in the world has received orders to sail from the Caribbean Sea to the Middle East as Trump considers the possibility of taking military action against Iran, according to the Associated Press on Friday.

Trump hinted yesterday about sending a second aircraft carrier to the region, but neither he nor the U.S. Navy specified the name of the ship.

He also confirmed Thursday evening during a press conference at the White House that he wants to reach a deal with Iran within a month. He said, "We need to make a deal, otherwise it will be very painful, very painful. I don't want that to happen."

He indicated that "it would be very tough on Iran if a deal is not made."

He added that "if the deal is not very good with Iran, they will likely face a very tough time."

Additionally, he urged Iranian authorities to move quickly, saying, "I expect that within the next month or so, they should move very quickly."

This comes as global powers and regional countries fear that the collapse of negotiations between Iran and the United States could ignite a wider conflict.
