Revealing Details About the Indonesian Force's Mission Arriving in Gaza Soon
Translation by SadaNews - The Yedioth Ahronoth Hebrew newspaper website revealed on Tuesday details of the Indonesian force's mission that will be deployed in the Gaza Strip, as part of the international stabilization force.
Earlier on Tuesday, Indonesia announced that it would send 8,000 troops for this mission.
According to the Hebrew website, as translated by SadaNews, the Indonesian army will send a high-ranking officer to the U.S. military-civilian headquarters in Kiryat Gat, southern Israel, by the end of this week.
The site stated that the Indonesian army will replace the Israeli army on the yellow line as soon as possible this year.
The Indonesian representative will discuss with the Israeli army the authorities and responsibilities of the first foreign force to be deployed in Gaza, including the coordination of fire and the restrictions imposed on its issuance.
It is likely that the Indonesian forces will receive their training and equipment in Jordan or Egypt, but they are not expected to operate in areas of the Gaza Strip controlled by Hamas.
Their mission will first involve securing the green zone in Rafah, and locations for the collection and storage of Hamas weapons, if the movement agrees to hand them over, as stipulated in the ceasefire agreement.
The arrival of the foreign force at this stage does not include a mandate to operate against the tunnels of the movement on both sides of the yellow line.
