Netanyahu Orders Replacement of the State of Palestine Seal on Gaza Residents' Passports
Translation by SadaNews - The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed on Monday details from the discussions of the Israeli security cabinet, known as the "kabinett", which took place on Sunday evening.
According to the Hebrew newspaper, as translated by SadaNews, the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini, confirmed during yesterday's meeting that residents of Gaza who cross at the Rafah crossing have their passports stamped with the name "State of Palestine", a stamp associated with documents issued by the Palestinian Authority.
The head of Shin Bet's response came in answer to a question from Minister of Settlement Orit Struck, who raised the issue of the stamps at the Rafah crossing and the Palestinian Authority's involvement over the past year since it was reopened as part of the previous prisoner exchange agreement at the beginning of 2025.
Minister of Development for the Negev and Galilee, Ze'ev Elkin, also asked several times during the cabinet meeting about the arrangements at the Rafah crossing, questioning whether the salaries of the crossing operators are paid by the Palestinian Authority.
According to sources from the political level, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a review of replacing the Authority's seal with the "Peace Council" seal established by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The Shin Bet declined to comment on this matter.
