Meeting Between President Abbas and King of Jordan to Address Recent Israeli Decisions
Special to SadaNews: Exclusive sources informed "SadaNews" that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will meet today with Jordanian King Abdullah II in the capital Amman, in light of the recent Israeli decisions described as the most dangerous since the occupation of the West Bank in 1967, which indicate a pathway towards annexing the West Bank and ending the Palestinian Authority.
Following the meeting, President Abbas is set to travel to the Norwegian capital Oslo, as part of diplomatic efforts to address the recent developments.
The Palestinian presidency had condemned the dangerous decisions approved by the Israeli occupation cabinet regarding deepening attempts to annex the West Bank, considering them as a continuation of the comprehensive war waged by the occupation government against our Palestinian people, and an unprecedented escalation targeting Palestinian existence and its national and historical rights over all Palestinian land, especially in the occupied West Bank.
The presidency warned of the danger of these decisions that represent practical implementation of plans for annexation and displacement, noting that these decisions violate all agreements signed between the Palestine Liberation Organization and Israel, as well as international law and international legitimacy resolutions, and are a flagrant violation of the Oslo Agreement and the Hebron Agreement, and an overt Israeli attempt to legitimize settlement and seize lands, and destroy the properties of Palestinian citizens, even in areas under Palestinian sovereignty.
The Palestinian presidency also warned against the danger of tampering with Islamic and Christian sanctities, emphasizing that any violation of the Ibrahimi Mosque and the transfer of authorities over it is rejected and completely unacceptable, asserting that the occupation authorities alone bear the responsibility for continuing the assaults on the sanctities, with the aim of igniting tensions especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.
The presidency affirmed that these illegal and illegitimate decisions are void and will not grant legitimacy to anyone, nor will they entail any legal consequences, as international legitimacy laws have confirmed the rejection of settlement and attempts to annex and displace our people under any pretext.
The presidency called on the international community, especially the Security Council and notably the U.S. administration, to intervene immediately and take serious action to stop these dangerous Israeli decisions that threaten all international efforts aimed at calming the situation and halting escalation in the region.
