Sheikh Calls for an Arab-Islamic-International Stance to Pressure Israel to Reverse Its Decisions

SadaNews - The Vice President of the State of Palestine, Hussein Sheikh, has called on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Security Council to hold emergency sessions to discuss the dangerous decisions made by the Israeli government and to take an Arab-Islamic-International position that condemns these measures and demands the Israeli government to reverse them immediately.

Reactions condemning the Israeli decisions aimed at solidifying attempts to annex the West Bank through the escalation of settlement construction and facilitating land purchases by settlers have continued to emerge.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, and the Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, are promoting a series of decisive decisions to deepen the actual annexation of lands in the West Bank.

The newspaper added, according to SadaNews' translation, "These decisions, which have been approved by the Israeli cabinet, are expected to bring about radical changes in the procedures for land confiscation in the West Bank, allowing Israeli occupation to demolish buildings owned by Palestinians in Area A."

It continued, "These decisions entail complex legal ramifications, and among their outcomes is a notable expansion of Israeli settlement throughout the West Bank, as one of these decisions pertains to land, and the Israeli cabinet will now allow lifting the current secrecy on land records in the West Bank."

Sheikh stated: ‬What is being discussed about anticipated Israeli decisions to deepen the annexation and impose new realities in the West Bank, especially in Areas A, amounts to a complete undermining of all signed agreements binding upon the parties, and constitutes a serious escalation and a blatant violation of international law.. These unilateral measures aim to undermine any political horizons, destroy the two-state solution, and drag the region towards further tension and instability. We call on the U.S. administration and the international community to intervene immediately to stop this occupation encroachment.
