Erdogan: Turkey Will Work with Egypt to Restore Peace and Rebuild Gaza
SadaNews - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that his country will work with Egypt to ensure the restoration of peace and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized the need to expedite steps for a ceasefire in Gaza, deliver humanitarian aid, and protect civilians.
Erdogan, in remarks to Turkish journalists accompanying him on his return from Cairo after a visit to Egypt, which was preceded by a visit to Saudi Arabia, published on Thursday, noted that Egypt is among the most affected countries by the situation in Gaza and does not want the crisis to escalate.
He added that Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia are leading countries in the region, indicating that he had very fruitful meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and earlier with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where comprehensive discussions on bilateral relations were held from all aspects, in addition to exchanging views on current developments, especially in Palestine and Syria, from the perspective of "regional responsibility."
Erdogan continued: "We see, and we know, that Egypt does not want the Gaza issue and the Palestinian cause to escalate further. Egypt, like us, wants to end these conflicts, and has strongly opposed using hunger as a weapon, and the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza."
He pointed out that "Egypt's geographical location is crucial, and it is an important actor in the fate of Gaza, both through its location and its historical responsibility. For these reasons, achieving stability in Gaza and throughout Palestine is also in Egypt's interest." He added that "Egypt also does not wish for the Gaza and Palestine issues to worsen," noting that the region cannot afford another round of conflict, and that the Egyptian administration is well aware of this matter.
Erdogan noted that the "systematic instability created by Israel in the region for years has also negatively impacted Egypt, and for this reason, Egypt wants to end these conflicts and achieve peace in Palestine as much as we do."
He commended the efforts made by Egypt to deliver humanitarian aid through the Rafah crossing, saying that these are "commendable efforts, and I believe we will work together to ensure the restoration of peace in Gaza and its reconstruction."
Erdogan stressed that the continuous attacks by Israel and its violations of the ceasefire are totally unacceptable, calling on the international community to pressure Israel to fully adhere to the ceasefire.
He indicated the ongoing Israeli attacks targeting civilians in the Gaza Strip, with more than 500 Palestinians killed since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10, 2025.
He said: "There are still severe restrictions and serious problems concerning the entry of humanitarian aid trucks to Palestinians in Gaza," adding that despite all the provocations and Israeli violations, the first phase of the peace plan in Gaza has been accomplished, and it has become clear once again who supports peace and who advocates war.
Erdogan continued that we are "working day and night; to ensure that our Palestinian brothers in Gaza enjoy a dignified future and the lasting peace they deserve, and we support establishing peace on the ground, not on paper."
He affirmed that Turkey will play an active role in ensuring the implementation of the peace plan in Gaza and restoring peace and stability in the Strip, noting that Turkey's position on Israeli violations and practices is not based on "blind animosity," but on humanitarian, historical, and cultural principles.
