Saudi-Turkish Call to Establish Ceasefire in Gaza and Restore Authority
SadaNews - Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for the necessity of establishing a ceasefire, ending the occupation in Gaza, and paving the way for the return of the Palestinian National Authority to assume its responsibilities, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002.
In conclusion of Erdogan's visit to Saudi Arabia, they expressed concern over the deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, the continued aggression of the Israeli occupation, and the obstruction of humanitarian aid and opening of border crossings.
They emphasized the importance of intensifying relief work in Gaza and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance throughout the region, while stressing the need for the international community to pressure the occupying authorities to ensure the protection of civilians and adherence to international and humanitarian law.
The two sides also reaffirmed the vital role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in defending the Palestinian cause, commended the work of the Arab-Islamic contact group regarding Gaza, and confirmed their support for the efforts of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in providing essential services. They condemned the demolition of the agency's buildings in occupied Jerusalem by the occupation forces, calling on the international community to address these violations.
