Sisi and King Abdullah Emphasize the Necessity of Full Implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement in the Gaza Strip

SadaNews - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the necessity of fully implementing the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, executing U.S. President Donald Trump's peace plan, and facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza without restrictions. They also called for a swift start to early recovery operations and reconstruction in the area. The two leaders reaffirmed Egypt and Jordan's firm stance against any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land. They also addressed the developments in the West Bank, reiterating their rejection of all violations and arbitrary practices against the Palestinian people. In this context, the two leaders stressed that establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East. This came during Sisi's reception of King Abdullah II at Cairo International Airport today, where he accompanied the king to the Al-Ittihadiya Palace for bilateral talks between the two sides. Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed el-Shenawy stated that the reception ceremonies at Al-Ittihadiya Palace included a guard of honor salute, and music played for the national anthems of both countries, followed by a commemorative photo session. This was followed by a bilateral meeting between the leaders and an extensive discussion session with the participation of delegations from both countries, concluded with a luncheon hosted by Sisi in honor of the King of Jordan and his accompanying delegation. The spokesperson, Ambassador Mohamed el-Shenawy, noted that the discussions included Sisi welcoming the Jordanian King to his second home, Egypt, emphasizing the uniqueness of the brotherly relations that bind Egypt and Jordan and the necessity to push them forward for the interests and aspirations of both brotherly peoples. For his part, the Jordanian monarch expressed his happiness with the visit to Egypt, affirming his appreciation for the fraternal ties and fruitful cooperation between the two countries. He also stressed Jordan's commitment to continuing to work with Egypt to advance bilateral relations to broader horizons, in addition to enhancing political consultations on various issues of mutual interest. Moreover, the spokesperson added that the meeting discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip and touched on the situation in several countries in the region, emphasizing the importance of reducing regional escalation and tension, promoting joint efforts to maintain stability, needing to resolve crises through peaceful means, and respecting the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of countries and safeguarding the resources of their peoples. In this context, the two leaders affirmed the necessity of continuing political consultations between Egypt and Jordan on various files and intensifying joint coordination to support regional peace and stability. The spokesperson also mentioned that the current status of the bilateral relations between the two countries was reviewed, and the leaders expressed their satisfaction with the developments in these relations, stressing the need to move forward in enhancing and elevating them in various fields, including preparations for the upcoming session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Joint Committee.
