Al-Sisi Expresses Egypt's Concern to His Iranian Counterpart Regarding the Escalation of Tensions in the Region

SadaNews - President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call today (Saturday) from President Masoud Bezgishan, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The official spokesperson for the presidency, Ambassador Mohamed Shenawy, stated that the call addressed developments regarding the Iranian nuclear file, during which President al-Sisi expressed Egypt's deep concern over the escalating tensions in the region, affirming the necessity of avoiding escalation and rejecting military solutions, emphasizing that diplomatic solutions are the only and best way to resolve the crisis in a manner that ensures the Middle East is spared further tension and instability.

The spokesperson explained that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi confirmed Egypt's continued efforts aimed at bringing the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table, leading to a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue, which enhances regional and international stability. This is something President al-Sisi underscored to US President Donald Trump during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the recent Davos Forum.

In this context, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi expressed Egypt's hope that the concerned parties would elevate the value of dialogue to overcome differences and reach a comprehensive settlement, stressing Egypt's support for all efforts made in this regard.

The official spokesperson also noted that the Iranian president expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation for the positive role that Egypt plays in avoiding escalation and maintaining security and stability in the region, reaffirming his country's commitment to enhancing political consultation and coordination with Egypt to support regional stability.
