Israeli and Egyptian Arrangements to Reopen Rafah Crossing Amid Restrictions on Palestinian Movement
SadaNews - The occupation army radio reported that entry and exit from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing will be subject to Egyptian approval, with Israel providing the names of travelers for their endorsement.
The radio explained that an Israeli security official will supervise the monitoring of individuals exiting the crossing toward Egypt, without them undergoing direct inspection procedures.
The radio also revealed that Israel will use facial recognition technology to track the movement of those departing and ensure they have obtained prior approval. As for those returning to Gaza, they will be taken to an Israeli point for inspection and verification of their identities before being allowed entry.
In this context, Haaretz newspaper reported, citing security sources, that the Israeli army has completed its preparations to reopen the Rafah crossing.
According to the newspaper, around 150 Palestinians will be allowed to return to the Gaza Strip daily, while a larger number of those departing will be permitted to cross into Egypt.
