"Meta" suspends teenagers' access to artificial intelligence characters worldwide
SadaNews - Meta announced that it will suspend access for teenage boys to current artificial intelligence characters across all its applications worldwide, while it creates an updated version for users in this age group.
It added in an updated blog post on youth protection, "Starting in the coming weeks, teenage boys will not be able to access AI characters through our apps until the updated experience is ready."
The new release of characters targeted at teenage boys at this age will come with parental control tools, once it becomes available, according to Reuters.
In October, Meta showcased parental control tools that allow parents to disable their teenagers' private conversations with AI characters, adding another measure to make its social media platforms safe for minors after facing heavy criticism over the behavior of chatbots.
The company stated on Friday that these controls have not yet been launched.
Meta also mentioned that its AI experiences for teenagers will be guided by a movie rating system referred to as PG-13, as it looks to prevent teenagers from accessing inappropriate content.
