Central Elections Commission: Nearly Fifty Thousand New Registrants in the Electoral Registry Since the Cabinet's Decision
SadaNews - The Central Elections Commission stated that the process of updating the electoral registry is ongoing in various governorates of the country and is witnessing a significant turnout. They indicated that since receiving the Cabinet's decision regarding the local elections in 2026, (49,589) new citizens have been registered in the electoral registry electronically - through the website - and on the ground, while nearly 275,000 citizens inquired about their registration centers.
The commission added that on the first day of the field registration process, which started yesterday, Tuesday, (15,352) new citizens were registered in the electoral registry, while (2,196) citizens transferred their polling places, and (51,293) citizens inquired about their polling centers through the commission's website.
The commission clarified in its statement issued this morning, Wednesday, that both electronic and field registration processes are still ongoing, urging unregistered citizens, or those wishing to amend or transfer their data, to do so promptly through the commission's website or through the registration centers spread across all local authorities in the West Bank, and electoral district offices, until 2 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
The commission noted that it is receiving citizen inquiries through social media, via the website, or through the commission's phone numbers.
