Hamas: We Will Work to Facilitate the Handover Process and Ensure the Success of the Independent Committee for Managing Gaza
SadaNews - The spokesperson for Hamas, Hazem Qasem, announced the full support of the movement for the executive steps related to the administration of the Gaza Strip during the upcoming phase, asserting that the movement will provide all necessary facilitation to ensure the success of the agreed-upon administrative bodies.
Qasem stated in a press statement that Hamas will work to facilitate the handover process and ensure the success of the "Independent Committee for Managing Gaza," emphasizing that this position stems from a genuine "national commitment" towards the people of Palestine in the Strip.
The spokesperson clarified that prioritizing national interest and facilitating the tasks of the independent committee aim to organize internal conditions and serve citizens, ensuring the overcoming of the repercussions of the aggression and strengthening the Palestinian internal front.
The first meeting of the Palestinian National Committee for Managing the Gaza Strip began today, Friday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in what is described as a historic step to organize internal Palestinian conditions and restore authority in the Strip.
The head of the Palestinian National Committee for Managing the Gaza Strip, Ali Shath, arrived in Cairo yesterday, Thursday, to start the first meetings of the committee tasked with managing the affairs of the Strip, following Washington's announcement of the beginning of the second phase of the plan to end the war on Gaza, and factional support for the committee to assume its tasks, with Hamas ready to hand over government files.
The American envoy to the Middle East, Steve Whittaker, announced the launch of the second phase of President Donald Trump's 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza.
Whittaker stated that this phase transitions from a ceasefire to disarmament, establishing a technocratic governance, and commencing reconstruction.
He explained in a post on the "X" platform that he announces the start of the second phase on behalf of President Trump, noting that it establishes a transitional technocratic Palestinian administration in the Gaza Strip under the name of "The National Committee for Managing Gaza."
He added that the second phase will include the complete disarmament and reconstruction of Gaza, specifically disarming all unauthorized individuals, emphasizing that the United States expects Hamas to fully comply with all its commitments, including the immediate return of the last detained body, warning that any failure in this regard will have severe consequences.
