Severe Crisis After Cessation of Border Crossings for Returnees to the West Bank via King Hussein Bridge
SadaNews - On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the King Hussein Bridge witnessed a near complete halt in receiving travelers returning to the West Bank, causing a severe crisis due to the large numbers of travelers, with only a few groups crossing since the morning hours.
Sources indicated that the Israeli side is dealing with the crossing process very slowly, which has exacerbated the crisis, leading to a backlog of buses and travelers.
This crisis coincided with the return of large numbers of pilgrims and Umrah buses, which increased pressure on the crossing that is operating today in both directions from eight in the morning until one-thirty in the afternoon only.
For its part, the Jordanian Bridges Security Administration clarified that the period from January 14 to 21 will witness active movement for travelers, coinciding with the return of large numbers of Umrah buses, which requires extra efforts to facilitate the crossing and mitigate the escalating crisis.
