Fatah Revolutionary Council Decides to Hold Eighth Conference This Year and Individual Reinstatement of Expelled Members

SadaNews - The Revolutionary Council of the "Fatah" Movement has decided to hold the eighth conference of the movement on May 14, 2024, considering this a necessary organizational requirement and political necessity.

The decision was made at the end of its thirteenth session, which took place over two days at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, under the title: "Session of National Leaders Muhammad Al-Hourani, Osama Al-Najjar, freedom for leader Marwan Barghouti and all prisoners," to hold the next session of the Revolutionary Council before the general conference to approve the work of the preparatory committee for the conference.

The Revolutionary Council also decided to "reintegrate the brothers and sisters who have been expelled from the movement, on an individual basis, as for those who committed crimes against our people or have cases before the movement’s court or the Palestinian judiciary until their cases are judicially addressed." According to the statement.

The council discussed the overall political and field situations in light of the comprehensive speech delivered by President Mahmoud Abbas - the president of the movement - amidst the ongoing comprehensive aggression against the Palestinian people and their steadfastness on their homeland, and confirmed the continuation and escalation of popular resistance, as well as political and legal movements to stop the aggression.

The council firmly rejected displacement, settlement, and attempts to bypass the Palestine Liberation Organization, the legitimate and sole representative of our Palestinian people in all areas of their presence.

The council also reaffirmed its rejection of all forms of guardianship, dependency, and containment, reiterating its commitment to the geographical unity of Palestinian land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and to the political, legal, and administrative sovereignty of the Palestinian government over the territory of the occupied State of Palestine.

The "Fatah" Movement emphasizes that "stopping the aggression on Gaza and ensuring the flow of aid, beginning recovery and reconstruction, opening the Rafah crossing in both directions, and the complete withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip are our national priorities. Also, stopping the aggression against the Jenin and Tulkarm camps and Noor Shams and the return of their residents, providing all forms of support to them represents a daily work program for the movement, and we call on the Palestinian government to double its relief efforts and support for those forcibly displaced from these camps."

It stressed that "resistance to settlement and confronting settlers' aggression represents an existential challenge for us, and the entire national community must intensify efforts to defend ourselves, our land, and our properties, while supporting and protecting the steadfastness of the people of Jerusalem and safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites remains at the top of our national program, as well as defending the UNRWA and its mandate, as it is a testimony to the Nakba and the sanctity of the refugees' right to return."

The "Fatah" Movement reaffirmed its principled position "to preserve the rights and dignity of the families of martyrs, prisoners, and the wounded as it represents an integral part of our national identity, and this issue is a trust on the movement's shoulders, and we are quickly working to find the appropriate national formula to clarify anything ambiguous in this sacred matter."

It emphasized its support for the prisoner movement "against the occupation's transgressions against our brave prisoners and the mistreatment they face, and in resisting the oppressive occupation legislations against them, including the 'Death Penalty Law', and works in all regional and international forums to secure their release, led by our brother leader Marwan Barghouti, a member of the movement's central committee, and all his comrades." According to the text of the statement.

It stated that the "Fatah" Movement firmly stands with President Mahmoud Abbas to make this year a year of Palestinian democracy, starting with local council elections on April 25, and calls on its members to unite and engage in the electoral process and support the movement's lists. As stated in its text.

It extended greetings to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, especially to the members, cadres, and leaders of the movement for their steadfastness, resilience, sacrifices, and service to the citizens there in the most difficult circumstances.

It also extended greetings and congratulations to the youth of the movement for their success in their conference, and with pride and greetings to the national football team - the "Fida’i" - for their honorable achievements in the Arab Cup.

It expressed its pride in the movement's lists' victory in union elections.

The "Fatah" Movement expressed appreciation and respect to the peoples, governments, parties, unions, and universities of the world that have made Palestine and the justice of its cause and support for its people a criterion for humanity, and made recognition of the State of Palestine an expression of this support and a rejection of genocide in Palestine.
