Egypt and the European Union emphasize rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land

SadaNews - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the necessity of fully implementing the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the regular and unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid to the area.

This came during his meeting with Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

The meeting addressed developments in regional and international situations, primarily the situation in the Gaza Strip, where El-Sisi expressed Egypt's appreciation for the European Union's support for Egyptian efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement.

Both sides stressed their rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land, reiterating the need to expedite the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the reconstruction process of the area. They also emphasized the importance of continuing work to resume the political process towards achieving a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in accordance with the two-state solution.

El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the notable development in Egypt-European relations, confirming the importance of continuing to enhance various aspects of cooperation, especially after elevating these relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

For her part, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy expressed the European side's appreciation for the existing cooperation with Egypt in various fields, which was reflected during the first Egypt-EU summit held in Brussels in October 2025. She noted that the second tranche of the financial support package provided by the EU to Egypt will be disbursed in the coming days.

The meeting addressed all aspects of the relationship between the two sides, where President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of implementing the outcomes of the first Egypt-EU summit and enhancing consultations and coordination on issues of mutual interest, particularly in political and security fields, to support regional security and stability. They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in combating terrorism, organized crime, and addressing illegal immigration.

In this context, El-Sisi stressed the necessity of strengthening trade and investment relations between Egypt and the European Union, in light of the promising investment opportunities available in Egypt, which mutually benefit both parties.

The European official expressed the EU's aspiration to continue developing economic cooperation, opening wider horizons for bilateral relations, as well as maintaining coordination on politically significant files of mutual interest, valuing the active role that Egypt plays in establishing peace and stability in the region. She also expressed the EU’s anticipation to initiate the first dialogue between Egypt and the EU in the fields of security and defense in March 2026.
