SadaNews - The artist and former United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Angelina Jolie, along with a delegation from the U.S. Department of State, visited the Rafah border crossing on Friday.

This visit was attended by Khaled Mujahed, Governor of North Sinai, Ambassador Nabila Makram, former Egyptian Minister of State for Immigration, and head of the technical secretariat for the National Alliance for Community Development in Egypt.

Jolie affirmed that her visit to the Rafah border crossing aims to assess the humanitarian situation and efforts to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip.

She pointed out the need to expedite the delivery of more aid to the Gaza Strip, where the people are facing severe suffering and a humanitarian tragedy.

For his part, the Governor of North Sinai stated that the Rafah border crossing is open from the Egyptian side and has not been closed since January 7, 2023, noting that Israel has closed it from the other side.

The governor indicated that all Egyptian entities are on alert to receive Palestinian wounded and sick individuals for treatment in Egyptian hospitals.

This visit comes as part of the growing international concern over the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and emphasizes support for Egyptian efforts to receive victims and provide the necessary healthcare.
