Yemen Cuts Defense Relations with the UAE: Troops to Be Expelled Within 24 Hours and a State of Emergency Declared for 90 Days
SadaNews: The President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, has demanded that all Emirati forces exit all Yemeni territories within 24 hours, announcing a state of emergency across the republic starting today for a duration of 90 days.
Al-Alimi stated in a televised speech that "the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council has decided to cancel the mutual defense agreement with the United Arab Emirates and to impose a 72-hour air and ground blockade on all ports and access points."
He added that the council made these decisions to protect civilians and the legal status of the state, following confirmation of the UAE's shipment of two vessels loaded with weapons from Fujairah to the port of Mukalla.
Al-Alimi reiterated his call to the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council to use reason and withdraw from Hadhramaut and Al-Mahrah.
