Government Media Office in Gaza: The occupation committed 969 violations of the ceasefire agreement

SadaNews - The Government Media Office in Gaza stated today, Sunday, that the Israeli occupation forces have committed 969 violations of the ceasefire agreement since it came into effect on October 10 until December 28, resulting in the martyrdom of 418 Palestinians and the injury of 1141 others.

The office clarified in a press statement that the violations included 298 incidents of direct gunfire targeting civilians, 54 incursions carried out by military vehicles into residential areas, in addition to 455 incidents of shelling and targeting of civilians and their homes.

The violations also included 162 cases of demolition and destruction affecting homes, institutions, and civilian buildings, and 45 cases of illegal detention carried out by the Israeli occupation forces.

Less than half of the aid

The statement indicated that the occupation authorities did not adhere to the minimum quantities of aid agreed upon in the humanitarian protocol attached to the agreement, as only 19,764 trucks entered the Gaza Strip out of 48,000 that were supposed to be delivered over 80 days, with an average of 253 trucks per day out of 600 scheduled, representing a compliance rate of no more than 42%.

As for fuel shipments, only 425 trucks arrived out of 4,000 allocated under the agreement, with an average of 5 trucks per day out of 50, resulting in a compliance rate of approximately 10%, leaving hospitals, bakeries, and water and sewage stations in a state of near paralysis.

Housing crisis exacerbated by storms

The media office warned of the worsening housing crisis, accusing the Israeli occupation of closing crossings to prevent the entry of tents, mobile homes, caravans, and shelter materials, in violation of the humanitarian agreement.

It noted that this policy, coupled with weather disturbances and the onset of winter, led to the collapse of 49 damaged homes and buildings, which resulted in the martyrdom of 20 people who had sought refuge in them after losing their original homes.

Additionally, the deaths of two children from severe cold inside the displaced peoples' tents were recorded, and more than 127,000 tents were rendered non-operational, failing to provide the minimum protection for more than 1.5 million displaced persons.

Three people remain missing under the rubble of buildings that collapsed due to the low pressure and had previously been subjected to bombing.

Call to the international community

The office emphasized that the continuation of these violations represents "a dangerous circumvention of the ceasefire" and an attempt to impose a humanitarian equation based on "subjugation, starvation, and extortion," holding the occupation fully responsible for the deterioration of the humanitarian situation.

The statement called upon the international community, the United Nations, President Donald Trump, and the parties sponsoring the agreement to oblige Israel to fully implement its commitments, ensure the protection of civilians, secure the immediate and safe flow of aid and fuel, and facilitate the entry of necessary shelter materials to address the humanitarian disaster in the sector.

The Israeli war on Gaza, since October 7, 2023, has resulted in more than 71,000 martyrs and 171,000 injured Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, along with massive destruction, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United States at about 70 billion dollars.
