Russia's Ambassador in Baghdad: Iraqis Killed and Injured in the Ukrainian War
SadaNews - The Russian ambassador in Baghdad, Aloros Koutrashev, stated on Thursday evening that Iraqi fighters were killed and injured in the Russian-Ukrainian war, but their numbers are not large.
He mentioned in a statement during a television program that "Moscow granted visas to the families of the dead Iraqis for humanitarian reasons in return".
He criticized information suggesting an American "veto" regarding the participation of factions in the upcoming government, saying: "Is there an American mandate over Iraq?".
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi embassy in Moscow warned in September against attempts to lure Iraqis into participating in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The embassy stated in a statement: "The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Moscow wishes to clarify to the members of the Iraqi community residing in the Russian Federation, that what has been circulated on some social media by a person falsely claiming to represent the Iraqi community in Russia is a baseless claim and has no foundation in truth".
It added: "The embassy reaffirms Iraq's consistent position of neutrality regarding the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and its ongoing call for peaceful solutions and the end of the conflict through dialogue".
