Occupation Continues to Seal Off the Town of Al-Zawiya West of Salfit for the Sixth Day

SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces continue to close the entrance to the town of Al-Zawiya west of Salfit with dirt barriers for the sixth consecutive day.

The head of the municipality of Al-Zawiya, Amir Rafiq Shaqir, told the official agency that the occupation forces continue to close the town's entrance with earth mounds, which has caused nearly complete paralysis in the movement of citizens and deprived them of reaching their jobs and essential services.

Shaqir added that this closure is accompanied by repeated night incursions into the town, including raiding citizens' homes and conducting field investigations, amid a heavy presence of occupation forces in the vicinity of the town.

He pointed out that the ongoing closure exacerbates the humanitarian conditions within the town, especially for dialysis patients and those with chronic diseases, as they face great difficulty in traveling and reaching hospitals for treatment.

He clarified that this situation requires coordination with the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, but the occupation forces continue to obstruct movement, preventing residents from obtaining the simplest medical needs and medicines.

He noted that there are difficulties in bringing goods, food supplies, and fuel into the town due to the ongoing closure, which exacerbates the economic burdens on the residents and traders alike.

Shaqir emphasized that the municipality is following up with the relevant authorities on all developments, warning of serious humanitarian and economic repercussions if the closure continues, calling on human rights and international organizations to intervene urgently to stop this arbitrary procedure that affects the lives of more than 20,000 citizens in the area.
