Foreign Minister Discusses Latest Developments and Consular Needs with the Palestinian Community in Bangkok
SadaNews - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Farسين Agapikian Shaheen, met with members of the Palestinian community in the Thai capital, Bangkok, in the presence of the Palestinian Ambassador to Thailand, Jihad Al-Qudra, Advisor Dr. Ahmad Al-Bahis, and the Minister's Office Director, Deem Abdul Rahim. She welcomed them and conveyed the greetings of the Palestinian leadership, affirming her pride in the role played by the community in preserving national identity and raising awareness about the Palestinian cause in Thai society.
During the meeting, the minister provided a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in Palestine, particularly in Jerusalem, and the systematic attempts of Judaization and confiscation of lands and properties it faces, alongside the escalating attacks by settlers in the West Bank. She also addressed the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, despite the ceasefire agreement, describing it as a systematic genocide targeting both people and infrastructure, emphasizing the need for immediate and continuous humanitarian aid.
The minister discussed the dangers of the E1 project and Israeli expansionist and replacement policies, stating that dismantling the occupation and halting its plans requires adherence to international law and UN resolutions, and that any political plan, including previous proposals such as the Trump Plan, must clearly link to the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.
She also reviewed the Palestinian Authority's efforts in the reform process, clarifying that Israeli measures regarding financial clearance aim to undermine the Authority's work and affect its capacity to meet citizens' needs.
In an open dialogue, the minister listened to the community members' observations and needs, particularly regarding consular affairs and public services, and the necessity to enhance communication between the embassy and the community. She expressed her readiness to follow up on these issues with the relevant authorities to ensure the needs of Palestinians residing in Thailand are met.
The attendees expressed their appreciation for the minister's interest and eagerness to meet with them, while Shaheen emphasized the importance of strengthening the relationship between the community and the Embassy of the State of Palestine, and providing all possible forms of support to serve the Palestinian community members.
