Expanded Leadership Meeting Rejects Law to Execute Prisoners and Calls to Revive International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People Next Sunday
SadaNews - An expanded meeting was held with the attendance of the general secretaries of the Palestinian factions, members of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, representatives of prisoner institutions (Palestinian Prisoner Club, Prisoners Affairs Commission, Supreme Council for the Affairs of Prisoners), in addition to representatives of human rights organizations, national and Islamic forces, freed prisoners, the Human Rights Council, and a wide number of representatives of popular events.
This meeting came in rejection of the attempt to legitimize the law of executing prisoners of the Palestinian people, which was presented for preliminary reading and then for the first reading in what is called the "Knesset", in a move that reflects the fascism of the occupation and the escalation of its crimes, and the continuation of the genocide war it practices through killing, destruction, and field executions, and unleashing settler mobs to carry out their criminal assaults against our people.
This attempt represents new evidence of the effort to pass a racist and criminal law targeting the criminalization of the struggle of the Palestinian people and their legitimate resistance, which has made enormous sacrifices for freedom, independence, the right of return, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty and its capital in Jerusalem.
The participants emphasized that this occupation project, led by extremist settler Ben-Gvir, comes as part of an attempt to break the will of our people and the steadfastness of our heroic prisoners and detainees in the occupation prisons.
The attendees stressed the importance of activating all pathways and practical mechanisms on various levels, through a number of points as stated in the statement:
- Broad participation in popular and mass events in support of prisoners and in rejection of the criminal decisions.
- Activating all legal and international resolutions to criminalize the occupation, impose comprehensive boycott on it, and isolate its leaders and hold them accountable for their crimes.
- Following up on holding the occupation accountable for its crimes against prisoners, including killing, torture, abuse, and liquidation, especially what is happening in secret detention and interrogation centers like Sde Teiman and Rekhavim.
- Immediate action towards the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, the International Court of Justice, and the International Criminal Court to open a comprehensive investigation and hold the leaders of the occupation accountable for their crimes, including crimes of rape and violations occurring inside the cells.
The participants confirmed the revival of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people on the twenty-ninth of November of each year, and consider this year's central event to be in the city of Ramallah, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, where the gathering will be in the courtyard of the Birzeit Cultural Center at 12 noon, followed by a march.
