Ramallah Municipality: Christmas and Ramadan Events Limited to Symbolic Activities
SadaNews - The Ramallah Municipality announced that the events for the occasions of Christmas and the holy month of Ramadan will be limited to symbolic activities that preserve the uniqueness of the national circumstances and support the community fabric, in light of the devastating war impacts faced by our people in the Gaza Strip, which have left deep wounds in the hearts of all Palestinians.
It emphasized that despite the cessation of the genocide against our people, pain remains present, and the wounds continue to bleed in the hearts of its children.
It noted that based on this reality and with a sense of national and social responsibility, the municipality council discussed extensively the nature and level of activities that can be organized in the city of Ramallah during this season, considering the uniqueness of this phase and what it entails of pain and sacrifices, while also highlighting the importance of providing a symbolic space for citizens to celebrate religious occasions in their noble human spirit, without large festive displays.
In this regard, the Ramallah Municipality announced the symbolic activities as follows:
Organizing a Christmas market at the beginning of December in the Ramallah Park, along with the symbolic and quiet lighting of the Christmas tree inside the park, without extensive festive rituals, to suit the spirit of the occasion and keep the spirit of Christmas alive in the city.
Organizing a Ramadan market in February during the holy month of Ramadan in the Ramallah Park, with the symbolic lighting of a Ramadan lantern inside it, and without festive rituals, to keep the essence of the holy month present in our city.
It was pointed out that these events contribute to invigorating the local economy, especially in the fields of handicrafts and small and medium-sized businesses.
It mentioned that it will not decorate the streets and public facilities in the city for these two occasions; however, it leaves the freedom for citizens to decorate their shops and homes.
