SadaNews - The municipality of Castelnovo ne' Monti in northern Italy has officially recognized the State of Palestine during a celebratory ceremony attended by Ambassador Dr. Mona Abu Omara.
The mayor presented the recognition decree in the presence of an official delegation from the Palestine Liberation Organization, which included Ahmad Saeed Al-Tamimi, Qasim Awad, and Munib Al-Masri.
This step comes to affirm the growing Italian support for Palestinian rights and to enhance the international presence of the Palestinian cause in local and European institutions.
In her speech during the ceremony, Ambassador Dr. Mona Abu Omara confirmed that "on the anniversary of the declaration of independence, here is the Palestinian flag flying over the buildings of successive Italian municipalities, in an important step reflecting the imminent official recognition by the Italian government of the State of Palestine," noting that this rising momentum reflects the respect of the Italian people and their institutions for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
