Injuries Among Syrian Security Forces in Sweida Due to Shelling by 'Rebel Gangs'
SadaNews - Syrian television reported on Thursday evening a statement from the internal security forces in the Sweida province, stating that a number of security personnel were injured as a result of shelling by the "rebel gangs" on the outskirts of the province.
The television added that those described as "rebel gangs" in Sweida renewed their violations of the ceasefire for the third consecutive day, shelling sites in the outskirts of the province, leading to injuries among security forces.
The internal security forces said in the statement, "The repeated violations of the ceasefire in Sweida are the responsibility of the rebel gangs and the parties working to destabilize the province. The internal security forces thwarted a number of advances initiated by the rebel gangs from several fronts in the area."
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheikhani had stated earlier on Thursday that the government attempted to intervene to restore security in Sweida, emphasizing that "there is no problem with the Druze community, and we are dealing with caution to contain the crisis."
Al-Sheikhani reiterated during a discussion session at the "Chatham House" Institute in London the complete rejection of any form of division of Syria, and the desire to integrate all parties and components into the Syrian national fabric.
