Israeli Occupation Army Warns Residents of Southern Lebanon and Launches Airstrike in Tyre District
SadaNews - The Israeli occupation army issued what it termed an urgent warning to residents of southern Lebanon, confirming that it would carry out strikes across the south. This came shortly after an Israeli airstrike near Tyre that resulted in one martyr and several injuries.
An Israeli army spokesperson stated that its air forces, under the direction of the northern command, conducted an attack on the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon. The military spokesperson added that the attack targeted members of Hezbollah working within a construction unit.
The Israeli army stated that it would target military infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah throughout southern Lebanon, asserting that its attacks aim to counter Hezbollah's attempts to rebuild its activities in southern Lebanon.
Residents of specified buildings in the villages of Tayyiba and Tayr Diba were urged to evacuate immediately.
Earlier on Thursday, Channel 12 reported that Israel is preparing for the possibility of entering another round of combat against Hezbollah, indicating that the Israeli army is set for military intervention aimed at weakening the group and pushing it, along with the Lebanese government, to sign a stable agreement with Israel.
In recent weeks, Israel has intensified its attacks on Lebanon, including the assassination of individuals it claims are Hezbollah members and conducting airstrikes in several eastern and southern regions of the country.
Today, the Lebanese Ministry of Health stated in a statement that Israeli airstrikes were carried out on the towns of Tora and al-Abbasiya in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon, leading initially to the martyrdom of one citizen and injuries to three others.
Additionally, the official Lebanese news agency reported that enemy warplanes targeted the area between the towns of Tora and al-Abbasiya - the Wadi neighborhood, striking an open area.
It added that the airstrike caused panic among students in schools in the neighboring towns of Ma'arakeh, al-Abbasiya, Tora, and Tyre.
In contrast, the Israeli army stated in a statement that it attacked in the Tyre area of southern Lebanon, targeting what it described as armed individuals working within the infrastructure of Hezbollah's construction unit.
It claimed that the infrastructure was used to produce equipment for the reconstruction of infrastructure that had been targeted and destroyed during the war, asserting that Hezbollah's activities constituted a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.
The Israeli army has ramped up its attacks against Lebanon in recent weeks amid warnings of broader military operations.
On October 30, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun ordered the army for the first time to confront any Israeli military incursions into the liberated Lebanese territories in the south of the country.
However, he noted the next day that his country is ready to enter negotiations aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and regaining its territories.
In October 2023, Israel launched an aggression against Lebanon that escalated in September 2024 into an all-out war, during which more than 4,000 people were killed and around 17,000 others were injured.
Moreover, the ceasefire agreement in place with Hezbollah since November 2024 has been violated more than 4,500 times, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries.
Israel continues to challenge the agreement by maintaining its occupation of five Lebanese hills in the south, which it seized during the last war, in addition to other Lebanese territories it has occupied for decades.
