The Cabinet Approved a Series of Decisions.. Mustafa Warns Against Disrupting Recovery and Reconstruction Plans in the Sector

SadaNews - Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa warned of a slide into chaos in Gaza and the disruption of the implementation of relief, recovery, and reconstruction plans, expressing his concern about a decline in international momentum and attention with each day that the Palestinian consensus on unifying state institutions is delayed, and empowering the State of Palestine to fulfill its obligations towards the residents of the sector.

Mustafa said in the opening of the weekly cabinet session today, Wednesday, that "our people have paid a heavy price over two years of killing and displacement, and this price must not end in chaos or arrangements that entrench the status quo, or reduce our cause to just a humanitarian issue."

The Prime Minister emphasized that "what is required at this critical time is a clear and sincere national position, opposing the decisions of the occupation, enabling the Palestinian government to fulfill its full role on the ground in Gaza, to implement its relief, recovery, and reconstruction plans and restore stability, plans that enjoy support from both the international community and our people in the sector alike."

Additionally, the Cabinet called on the international community to compel Israel to stop its aggressions whether in Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem, affirming that "Israeli measures continue to undermine the work of state institutions at all levels, including the continued complete withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, and the occupation state's blatant refusal to restore our role in the sector and unify the two parts of the homeland, preventing and disrupting steps to realize the Palestinian state."

In another context, the Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Social Development and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) worth 3 million dollars; to provide grants for economic development projects, especially for displaced families in the northern West Bank, in the sectors of agriculture, technology, and home production, with project support ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 dollars according to specific standards and regulations, which will be arranged and announced through a number of NGOs in coordination with the social development directorates in various provinces.

The Cabinet also discussed preparations for the 2026 Hajj season, including arrangements for electronic registration for those wishing to perform Hajj according to electronic lottery standards, the arrangements for governmental committees to rent transport buses and secure suitable accommodations, and various other preparations to ensure the comfort of the pilgrims and the success of the Hajj season.

As part of the government’s initiative for digital transformation, which includes the approval of a series of necessary legislations in this regard, the Cabinet recommended to the President an updated version of the draft law for the National Cybersecurity Authority, in order to build an effective national cybersecurity system, protect national informational assets and infrastructure, and stimulate innovation and investment in the field of cybersecurity.
