Popular Federations of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Sweden Hold Meeting with Released Prisoners on the Reality of the Prison Movement and Ways to Internationalize Their Cause

SadaNews - The Popular Federations of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Sweden held a dialogue meeting with several released brothers who were formerly prisoners, to discuss the conditions of Palestinian prisoners inside the occupation’s prisons before and after October 7, 2023, in addition to examining the situation of the exiled prisoners in Cairo, and ways to enhance the role of Palestinian communities in Europe to internationalize the prisoners’ issue and convey their voices to European societies.

During the meeting, the released prisoners reviewed details of the daily suffering of the prisoners, and the oppressive policies they have been subjected to since October 7, which included restrictions on visits, the withdrawal of basic rights, medical neglect, and solitary confinement, emphasizing that what is happening inside the prisons constitutes a humanitarian crime that requires urgent international action.

The meeting also addressed the situations of the brothers who are exiled to Cairo, and the challenges they face on both living and legal levels, stressing the necessity of following up on their cases through relevant diplomatic and legal channels.

Participants called for activating the role of Palestinian communities in Europe in conveying the reality of the prisoners to the European public opinion, and collaborating with parties, human rights institutions, and media to raise awareness about this issue, and working to build an international support network that contributes to pressuring the occupation government for the release of the prisoners, especially the sick, elderly, children, and women.

In conclusion, the importance of continuing these meetings was emphasized to unify national efforts in the European arena and to develop a joint plan of action to internationalize the prisoners’ issue, considering it a core aspect of the Palestinian national struggle.
