Israeli Occupation Forces Arrest 6 Citizens Including Mayor of Deir Istiya in Salfit
SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces arrested six citizens from the town of Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit, today, Friday, including the mayor, while they were working in the olive harvest in the Al-Qida area north of the town.
Local sources reported that the occupation forces arrested the following individuals: Firas Dhiab, Ibrahim Abu Hajlah, Mayor of Deir Istiya Abdul Rahim Zidan, Nizam Al-Khatib, Ismail Al-Khatib, and Ali Abdul Rahim Zidan.
It was mentioned that the occupation forces raided the agricultural area while the farmers were working on their lands and arrested them after forcibly preventing them from continuing to harvest olives, noting that they were taken to an unknown location.
Other forces also invaded the Al-Marij neighborhood north of the town of Deir Ballut, west of Salfit.
The same sources reported that the occupation forces raided a number of homes and shops in the area, searched them thoroughly, seized several pieces of equipment from one of the shops, and scrutinized the surveillance camera recordings in the area.
Since the start of the olive harvest season, the occupation and its settlers have been continuing their assaults on farmers and their lands in Salfit Governorate through harassment, arrests, seizing equipment, and preventing access to lands located near settlements and colonial outposts.
