SadaNews - US President Donald Trump's plane landed in Israel this morning, Monday, where he was welcomed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, along with a group of ministers and the US ambassador to Tel Aviv.
This visit coincides with the commencement of the implementation of the prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas, as part of international and regional efforts to ensure the agreement is applied and to end the recent conflict between the two parties.
The US President confirmed that the war in Gaza has ended, emphasizing that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian resistance will hold.
He described his visit to the region as historic and very special, within the framework of efforts aimed at ending the conflict and securing peace.
During his visit to Israel and then Egypt aboard the presidential plane, Trump responded to a question from reporters saying: "The war is over. Okay? Do you understand?" He added that the Gaza Strip looks like a demolition site after the war.
The US President also announced that a Peace Council will be quickly formed for Gaza, praising Qatar's role in reaching the agreement, describing it as commendable.
According to the White House, Trump will address the Knesset, then meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his office at the Knesset, and meet with the families of the prisoners, before heading to Egypt to sign the agreement to end the war in Gaza.
