Europe Discusses Establishing "Anti-Drone Wall"
SadaNews - Representatives from European countries held talks yesterday about establishing an "anti-drone wall" to close gaps in their defense systems following numerous airspace violations.
Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland have been working on the project to build the wall, but the European Commission rejected a joint request from Estonia and Lithuania for funding in March.
The Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, stated that Western armies cannot continue to shoot down drones using expensive missiles. Rutte added in an interview with Bloomberg that the alliance is quickly learning from Ukraine how to counter Russian drones and will be using new technologies in the coming weeks.
NATO countries have recently faced a series of violations of their airspace by Russian aircraft and drones, which has posed an unprecedented test to the military alliance's credibility, while Moscow has intensified its attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure facilities.
