The "Omar Al-Mukhtar" Ship: Libya Joins the Fleet of Resistance Towards Gaza

SadaNews - The Libyan ship "Omar Al-Mukhtar" set sail from the capital Tripoli yesterday, Sunday, heading towards territorial waters to join the global fleet of resistance aimed at breaking the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip for 18 years.

The ship, carrying about 20 people including doctors and human rights activists from Libya and Western countries, is equipped with a fully integrated medical unit named after the Palestinian doctor Hussam Abu Safiya to provide emergency care. Additionally, the Libyan Emergency Service has dedicated a helicopter to secure relief during the sea voyage.

"Omar Al-Mukhtar" is transporting humanitarian aid including medications, tents, food for children, and essential supplies, with the participation of prominent figures including former Libyan Prime Minister Omar al-Hassi, and international activists including a Scottish rights advocate and another from Canada.

The spokesperson for the ship, Nabil Al-Soukani, confirmed that their departure was delayed due to bad weather and some logistical arrangements, but the ship is now fully equipped and ready to set sail.

This movement comes in conjunction with the departure of dozens of other ships participating in the fleet, which are scheduled to meet soon near the Maltese shores to head collectively towards Gaza, while Israeli reconnaissance planes have been spotted flying over some of the ships to monitor their movements.

The current fleet of resistance represents the largest such initiative since the imposition of the blockade on the sector, in an unprecedented collective attempt to breach it and deliver humanitarian aid.

Israeli Drones Fly Over Ships of the Maghreb Resistance Fleet Heading to Gaza

The Maghreb Resistance Fleet, part of the global fleet aimed at breaking the blockade on Gaza, announced on Sunday evening that three drones flew over one of its ships heading towards the sector.

Wail Nawar, spokesperson for the fleet management authority, stated in a post on his "Facebook" page, "Three drones flew over us, one of which came very close," without providing additional details.

Earlier, Nawar posted a video recording from aboard the ship "Deir Yassin," confirming that a drone flew over the fleet on Saturday night to assess the situation.

He added: "After almost six days since we left the port of Tunis, we exited Italian territorial waters, specifically from the island of Sicily, heading towards international waters near Greece. We are fine, our determination is strong and solid, and our destination is to break the blockade on Gaza."
