After Russian Strikes on Ukraine... Poland Deploys Aircraft to Protect Its Airspace
SadaNews - The Polish armed forces, a member of NATO, revealed that orders were issued for Polish and allied aircraft to take off urgently to protect Polish airspace, after Russia carried out airstrikes on western Ukraine near the border with Poland, according to the Reuters agency.
The operational command added in a post on "X": "Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance systems have been placed on the highest alert."
At 3:40 GMT, nearly all of Ukraine was on alert for airstrikes after warnings from the Ukrainian Air Force about Russian missile and drone attacks.
Last week, 19 Russian drones breached the airspace of NATO member Poland, which responded with its allies by deploying aircraft and air defenses to counter the threat.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also denied yesterday (Friday) the illegal entry of three MiG-31 fighter jets into Estonian airspace after being intercepted by NATO aircraft and warned to stay away.
