Ministry of Interior: We are monitoring the rumors targeting the home front and will take legal action against those involved
SadaNews - The Palestinian Ministry of Interior confirmed that it is seriously following up on the rumors and false news being circulated by some media outlets and social media platforms, which aim to undermine the home front and shake the citizens' trust in their national institutions at a time when the current phase requires the highest levels of responsibility and awareness to face existing challenges.
The ministry emphasized, in a statement on Monday evening, that spreading rumors and promoting misleading news only serves suspicious agendas and constitutes a crime punishable by law. It confirmed that the relevant authorities and security apparatuses will take all legal actions against anyone proven to be involved in spreading or contributing to these rumors, in accordance with the law and regulations.
It called on citizens to exercise caution in reporting information, relying only on official and trustworthy sources, and not engaging with any information not issued by the relevant authorities.
In the same context, the Government Communications Center denied the authenticity of the circulating audio clip and all the claims and statements made in it, confirming the Palestinian government's commitment to its duties towards the Palestinian people and its homeland, and the resilience of its national institutions despite the practices of occupation and its collaborators.
The center stressed that promoting rumors targeting the stability of society, especially at this time, serves the announced objectives of the occupation, warning of legal action against anyone contributing to their dissemination.
An audio clip was circulated discussing the difficult financial situation facing the Palestinian Authority and its inability to meet its obligations, including salaries for public employees.
