Red Crescent Enhances Health System in Gaza by Operating Cardiac Catheterization Department

SadaNews - The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced the operation of the cardiac catheterization department at Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza City on Saturday, August 30, 2025, as part of its plan aimed at expanding the range of medical services provided to citizens amid the difficult health and humanitarian conditions faced by the sector.

Dr. Haidar Al-Qudra, the executive director of the society in the southern governorates, explained that the operation of the new department is part of a broad activation process that included multiple departments within Al-Quds Hospital, confirming that the cardiac catheterization device has high specifications that enable medical teams to perform many important medical interventions and alleviate the pressure on the long waiting lists for patients.

Al-Qudra indicated that the re-operation of the cardiac catheterization department took a long period of diligent and continuous work, as the engineering and technical teams exerted great efforts to rehabilitate the device, overcoming many technical challenges.

The process required securing a key component (Motherboard), which was provided by Dr. Othman Al-Samadi, who facilitated its shipment through the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, a step that directly contributed to speeding up the operational process of the department and overcoming technical obstacles.

He added that this achievement comes in implementation of the decision of the executive office of the society, chaired by Dr. Younis Al-Khatib, who emphasized the importance of providing the services of the Palestinian Red Crescent for free and expanding them in various health and humanitarian fields.

He pointed out that these steps resulted in the reactivation of all departments in Al-Quds Hospital and Al-Amal Hospital, in addition to operating several field hospitals in Rafah, Khan Yunis, and Gaza, where currently two field hospitals are functioning, the Al-Mawasi field hospital in Khan Yunis and Al-Saraya in Gaza City.

The society had preceded this step by opening the maternity department at Al-Quds Hospital, along with operating oxygen generating stations, establishing two new operating rooms, and reactivating the intensive care unit, reflecting the ongoing efforts to enhance the health sector's ability to meet the needs of citizens in Gaza.
