Hebrew Channel: Israel and Syria are holding talks to reach a historic agreement
Translation by Sada News - The Hebrew channel Reshet Kan reported this Wednesday evening that Israel and Syria have held talks regarding the possibility of reaching a historic agreement.
According to the Hebrew channel, as translated by Sada News, the agreement stipulates suspending the Syrian demand for the Golan Heights in exchange for handing over Mount Dov and the Shebaa Farms to Syria.
According to the channel, Israel is considering this positively.
It noted that negotiations were halted following the events with the Druze in Sweida, but for the first time, both Israel and Syria confirm the possibility of implementing this agreement in the next phase of talks, after the security agreement currently under discussion.
It indicated that such a step would require the approval of 80 members of the Knesset.
A Syrian source close to the government ruled out any connection between the Mount Dov issue and the Golan Heights issue after reaching a security agreement between the two sides.
He told the Hebrew channel that this matter was not discussed within the framework of the security agreement talks, indicating that there are more urgent issues currently, such as the Druze Mountain.
Meanwhile, Israeli Transportation Minister Miri Regev said: The State of Israel is strengthening a security agreement with Syria, and this will ensure long-term stability and security on the northern border.
