Germany Rejects Settlement Project "E1": Israel Must Immediately Cease Activities
SadaNews - The German Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday its categorical rejection of the Israeli settlement project E1, describing it as a violation of international law, and urged Israel to stop all of its settlement activities immediately.
The Israeli occupation authorities approved a colonial construction plan today for the E1 area east of Jerusalem, which includes the construction of more than 3,401 housing units, in addition to establishing a new settlement named "Atarot," which includes the establishment of 342 colonial units and public buildings.
The "Peace Now" movement indicated that the approval for colonial construction in E1 was done at an extremely expedited pace, considering the plan to be "particularly fatal to the prospects of peace and for the two-state solution, as it divides the West Bank into two parts."
Finance Minister of the extreme right replacement government, Bezalel Smotrich, announced last week that the colonial plan in E1 effectively connects the Ma'ale Adumim settlement to Jerusalem, cutting off connectivity between Ramallah and Bethlehem, and considers it the final nail in the coffin of the idea of a Palestinian state.
"Peace Now" confirmed that the E1 plan joins thousands of colonial units approved by the occupation government this year, aimed at preventing a two-state solution.
The movement added that since the beginning of 2025, the occupation authorities have pushed plans to build 24,338 colonial units, including the E1 plan.
