The Network of Civil Organizations Calls on the International Community to Provide International Protection for the Palestinian People
SadaNews - The Network of Palestinian Civil Organizations calls through this urgent appeal for an end to the silence and international inaction regarding the unprecedented atrocities taking place in the Gaza Strip at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces, which have continued their brutal extermination war against defenseless civilians for 22 months, resulting in more innocent victims and causing massive destruction to homes, public buildings, health and international facilities, places of worship. This war extends with unprecedented breadth and steps to enforce the status quo, targeting the Palestinian existence in implementation of annexation and Judaization plans throughout the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem.
The network emphasizes the importance of taking immediate concrete steps and measures to prevent the implementation of forced displacement plans for more than one million citizens from the city of Gaza, and the steps currently being taken by the occupation, including building ghettos that turn the area into separate zones, paving the way for the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of residents amidst assaults on shelters and tents of the displaced, as well as those who are starving with empty stomachs and bodies nearing death, without the world providing them with a safe humanitarian corridor to secure food, all in the context of the world's silence and its shameful inability which reflects the extent of the occupation state's control over the highest levels of international decision-making, including in influential countries, led by the United States, and the bias towards the logic of power exercised by some countries with clear double standards. This warrants broader and more effective pressure to save the lives of the people of Gaza and provide international protection instead of seeking solutions aimed at beautifying the image of occupation through spreading "illusions" of near solutions (with a ceasefire) while threats and plots aimed at reoccupying the area and stripping its people of their right to persist and exist continue.
The network looks forward to the role of Egypt and Qatar in pushing towards an agreement to stop aggression in all its forms, including halting killing, destruction, displacement, opening crossings, and allowing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
The entire international community bears responsibility for the state of silence and the continued neglect of distress calls to save lives, despite many international human rights organizations issuing several positions clearly indicating that what is happening is a humanitarian disaster that requires the enforcement of international law and activation of international resolutions under Chapter "Seven" to hold the occupying state accountable for its crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories and provide international protection for our Palestinian people. Despite millions taking to the streets in cities and capitals around the world demanding an end to the war and allowing humanitarian aid to enter, the silence remains dominant, and its continuation means new victims every day.
