Indispensable in the Starting Lineup.. Guardiola Praises One of His Players

SadaNews - Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, praised one of the pillars of his team, asserting that he is an indispensable player in the starting lineup.

 

Guardiola's remarks came after Manchester City's friendly victory over Palermo with a score of three goals to zero, as part of their preparations for the new season. He commended the capabilities of English defender John Stones, emphasizing the importance of his full readiness before the competitions kick off.

Guardiola said of Stones: ''A very important player for us, during the years we won the treble and the quadruple, he was an untouchable player for us.''

He added: ''He is a top-class player, but he played less than 30% of last season's matches, he has been injured a lot.''

He concluded: ''What we want is for him to be fit, he didn't play much in the Club World Cup, he played the first 45 minutes here and we are progressing gradually because we need him. We have good defenders, but we need him.''

Manchester City will begin their journey in the Premier League next Saturday with a match against Wolverhampton, in a bid to reclaim the title they held for four consecutive seasons.
