Burhan: The battle continues until the liberation of Sudan

SadaNews - The commander of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, announced on Wednesday that the battle continues until the liberation of Sudanese territory.

"We are currently engaged in a real battle"

He added while addressing a media platform at the Ministry of Interior in Sudan's capital, Khartoum: "We are currently engaged in a real battle for the stability of the situation in the country."

He also noted that he had directed the regulation of arms possession within the capital, Khartoum.

He pointed out that the army will not intervene in the details of the civilian government.

Earlier on Wednesday, Al-Burhan made an unannounced visit to the Ministry of Interior headquarters in Khartoum.

The United Nations warns of the severe humanitarian situation for children in Khartoum

The United Nations has renewed its warnings about the dire situation in Sudan due to the ongoing war between the army and rapid support forces.

It stated in a statement that "children in Khartoum who are starving have become skin on bone," and that thousands of families trapped in the throes of war may die of hunger in the besieged city of Al-Fasher in the west of the country.

Thousands killed and millions displaced

It is noteworthy that the war that broke out in mid-April 2023 between the army led by Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and the rapid support forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, a former ally of Burhan, has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement and homelessness of millions.

The Sudanese government decides to withdraw all armed entities from Khartoum

About 40% of children under five suffer from acute malnutrition, with 11% experiencing severe malnutrition, according to the World Food Programme.

Al-Fasher, which has been besieged by rapid support forces since May 2024, is the only capital in the sprawling Darfur region that remains under the control of the army.
