Increase in the number of victims of the migrant boat sinking off the coast of Yemen
SadaNews - More than 90 people have died in the sinking of a boat carrying migrants off the coast of Yemen, according to security sources and a source from the International Organization for Migration, on Tuesday, in an update of a previous toll.
The boat, which was carrying mostly Ethiopian migrants, sank on Sunday in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Abyan province in southern Yemen.
A Yemeni source in the United Nations-affiliated International Organization for Migration reported finding two bodies "buried by fishermen after being washed up by the sea and becoming decomposed."
This raises the total number of casualties from the boat sinking to 96.
Press sources reported seeing at least two bodies washed ashore near the site where the boat sank, and noted the sight of tattered tents in the remote area where traffickers operate.
