Foreign Ministry: The Two-State Solution Conference is a Historic Opportunity for International Collective Action to Realize the Palestinian State on the Ground
SadaNews - Today, Monday, July 28, 2025, the high-level international conference to settle the Palestinian issue through peaceful solutions and implement the two-state solution begins in New York, under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly in its seventy-ninth session, co-chaired by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the friendly French Republic, with broad international participation.
The delegation of the State of Palestine is headed by Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Farisin Agabikian. This conference comes amid the continued war of extermination, ethnic cleansing, and displacement against the Palestinian people, and the escalation of all its manifestations and forms, as part of colonial expansion plans that coincide with official Israeli policies aiming to deepen daily crimes of extermination, starvation, displacement, and annexation, as clearly seen in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, alongside other existential crimes of occupation against the Palestinian people and their cause.
The conference aims to promote efforts to implement United Nations resolutions regarding the Palestinian issue and to achieve the two-state solution, contributing to reaching a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East. The conference enjoys high-level international participation, including European Union countries, several Arab states, and representatives from the United Nations, which enhances the diplomatic momentum supporting the Palestinian cause, especially amid growing international demands to stop Israeli aggression, ceasefire, open urgent humanitarian corridors in Gaza, and provide aid to stop famine and prevent forced displacement. Preparations have been diligently made through round tables and eight committees established as working committees under co-chairing by several countries to lay the practical foundations for implementing the two-state solution.
This conference represents a historic turning point in the course of the Palestinian issue and a step toward actualizing the Palestinian state on the ground by ending the Israeli occupation, through the political, economic, security, and legal momentum generated by the conference. The initial signs of the conference's success are reflected in its co-presidency between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with its strong stances in support of the rights of the Palestinian people, and the French Republic, which confirmed its recognition of the Palestinian state as a practical contribution to preserving the two-state solution and ensuring the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the right to self-determination, expressing commitment to international law and United Nations resolutions, and striving to achieve peace in the region and the world.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expresses its gratitude and appreciation to the French Republic, government, and people for this historic decision confirmed by President Emmanuel Macron in response to a letter from President Mahmoud Abbas. The ministry calls upon states that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take the initiative in this recognition, and invites all countries of the world to participate actively in the conference and take practical measures to protect the two-state solution and the opportunity to achieve peace. The ministry extends its sincere thanks to our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to our friends in the French Republic for co-chairing this conference, and to the co-chairs of the committees and round tables for their efforts so far.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that it will continue to work with the presidency of the conference and the chairs of the tables to ensure the success of the conference and transform the momentum into practical steps contributing to ending the occupation and achieving the rights of the Palestinian people, and implementing the two-state solution as the only viable solution and the cornerstone for security, stability, and prosperity in the Middle East.
