Welcoming remarks from the President of the National Council and Fatah Movement.. President Abbas welcomes France's decision and describes it as a "brave step"

SadaNews - President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the message from French President Emmanuel Macron, in which he confirmed that his country will recognize the State of Palestine during the UN General Assembly in September.

President Abbas expressed his appreciation for this brave step that will contribute to establishing peace based on the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy and law.

He expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of Saudi Arabia and its positions led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, which resulted in the French commitment to recognizing the State of Palestine.

The president praised the efforts of the Arab Islamic Foreign Ministers' Committee and all its members, the international coalition to support the implementation of the two-state solution, and all those involved in working groups and participants in the international peace conference in New York at the end of this month.

He stated, "This step is a victory for Palestinian rights and reflects France's commitment to supporting our Palestinian people and their legitimate and unassailable rights in their land and homeland, and its commitment to legitimacy and international law."

He affirmed that "France's decision comes as a contribution from countries that believe in the two-state solution as an option representing will and international legitimacy, in saving this solution which is being systematically destroyed due to Israeli policies, especially through the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip."

He urged the countries of the world, especially the European countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine, to recognize the State of Palestine according to the internationally recognized two-state solution based on the decisions of international legitimacy and emphasized the importance of supporting Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.

Palestinian National Council President Ruhi Fatouh also welcomed the French announcement.

Fatouh said in a statement that the French position represents support for international legitimacy and respect for international humanitarian law and is a step towards achieving security and stability in the region.

He praised President Macron for officially announcing this decision in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly next September.

Fatouh affirmed that the French recognition is an expression of France's historical commitment to supporting a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

He stressed that the decision strengthens international efforts aimed at ending the aggression on Gaza, providing immediate ceasefire, releasing prisoners, and delivering urgent humanitarian assistance to the residents of the Strip.

Fatouh extended his gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its significant international efforts and its steadfast positions in support of our Palestinian people and their just cause and its influential role in persuading many countries to recognize the State of Palestine and prepare for the international peace conference at the United Nations.

He called on the countries of the world to assume their humanitarian and political responsibilities and urgently intervene to save our people in the Gaza Strip from the starvation and death siege, stop the occupation's aggression, recognize the Palestinian state, and work diligently to end the occupation and empower our people to obtain their legitimate rights in establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian National Liberation Movement "Fatah" also welcomed the historic position issued by France, affirming that it expresses advanced support for the Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Gamal Nazal, spokesman for Fatah, stated in a press release that the French position represents a brave and responsible step that aligns with the principles of international law and the decisions of international legitimacy and reflects an advanced understanding from France of its moral and political role in supporting the path of justice and peace in the Middle East.

He stressed that the Fatah Movement sees this trend as a means to break the political deadlock and push towards finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, especially in light of the ongoing Israeli escalation and the unilateral occupation policies that undermine peace opportunities.

Nazal added: this step is a sincere response to the call of the Palestinian leadership, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, and to the program of the Palestine Liberation Organization announced in 1988 at the National Council, calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state according to international references.

He pointed out that "Fatah" values the French initiative, calling on European countries and the international community to emulate it and take similar steps to affirm Palestinian rights and support regional and global stability.
