Deterioration of the Health Condition of a Jordanian Young Man Due to an Energy Drink

SadaNews - Jordanian youth Hashim Al-Zawahra experienced a health emergency that nearly cost him his life after consuming an energy drink mixed with concentrated artificial juices for the first time in his life, according to a post he shared on his Facebook account.

Al-Zawahra mentioned that he felt severe chest pain and a rapid heartbeat after drinking the can, which necessitated his urgent transfer to Al-Zarqa Government Hospital. Medical tests showed elevated cardiac enzyme levels, which is an indicator deemed dangerous for heart health, requiring him to remain under intensive medical monitoring from 8 PM until the morning hours.

Al-Zawahra described his experience as "close to death," emphasizing that he does not suffer from any chronic illnesses or prior medical history, and that what happened was a direct result of the drink.

In his warning message posted on the ``Arabic Jordan`` pages, Al-Zawahra said: ``Be wary of trying energy drinks even out of curiosity. Just one drink nearly ended my life. I advise every young person and guardian to stay away from these toxic packaged beverages that are prevalent in the markets.``

Al-Zawahra concluded his post with prayers and gratitude for the medical staff, noting that he is still receiving treatment and following medical instructions, and he aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of these drinks to public health.
