Young man seriously injured after falling from the apartheid wall in Jerusalem
SadaNews - A young man was seriously injured after falling from the apartheid wall in the city of Jerusalem today, Sunday.
A spokesperson for the "Rescue Union - Jerusalem Brigade" reported that "rescue teams provided first aid to a man (about 30 years old) who suffered serious injuries as a result of falling from a height on the 'Ramallah Road' in Jerusalem."
A paramedic from the Rescue Union stated, "We were informed at the scene that he fell from the apartheid wall he had climbed. After providing initial medical treatment at the site of the incident, he was transferred to the hospital to continue receiving medical care, and at this stage his condition is described as critical."
The apartheid wall is a long wall built by Israel in the West Bank near the Green Line, justified as a means to prevent residents of the Palestinian West Bank from entering the lands of 1948 or the Israeli settlements close to the Green Line. However, Palestinians argue that it is an Israeli attempt to obstruct the lives of the Palestinian population or to annex land from the West Bank to Israel.
