Report: President Bzheshkian Injured in Israeli Attack and Iran Attempts to Target Israelis Abroad
SadaNews Translation - American intelligence sources confirmed to CBS News on Friday that Iranian President Masoud Bzheshkian was injured during one of the Israeli attacks on Iran last month.
According to the American report, which appeared on the website of the Hebrew newspaper Yisrael Hayom and translated by SadaNews, Bzheshkian was injured after Israel targeted a meeting he was attending for the Supreme National Security Council.
Some unofficial Iranian media reports indicate that Bzheshkian suffered minor injuries to his foot while trying to escape through an emergency exit.
The sources did not clarify whether Bzheshkian was the intended target of the Israeli strike.
Earlier this month, Bzheshkian himself confirmed in an interview with a local Iranian media outlet that there was an attempt on his life, stating: "Yes, they tried, and they acted on that basis, but they failed."
He added, "The United States was not behind the attempt on my life; Israel was. I was present at the meeting, and we discussed ways to move forward. But thanks to intelligence information from their spies, they attempted to bomb the location where we were holding our meeting."
Bzheshkian did not specify the exact date of the attack.
In this context, the Hebrew newspaper reported that since the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, the latter has been attempting to activate sleeper cells around the world to target Israeli tourists and businessmen.
It pointed out that local gangs have been uncovered that are used against Israelis, and various international intelligence agencies work daily to uncover and prevent these threats. SadaNews also translated this.
It noted that Iran is operating through Hezbollah and other affiliates, as well as through foreign cells, to deliver a painful blow to Israel of a different kind in African countries, South America, and even on European soil.
Intelligence sources acknowledged that these attempts have intensified following Operation "The Rising Lion," which adds to the two years following the October 7 attack, during which Iran sought to operate in different ways against Israelis abroad.
The newspaper indicated that cabinet ministers were briefed on the exceptional threat and Iran's efforts to target Israelis abroad.
