Jordan Condemns Israeli Shelling of the Latin Church in Gaza
SadaNews - The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan condemned the Israeli shelling of the Latin Church in Gaza, which resulted in martyrs and injuries.
Jordan considered this a blatant violation of international law and humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 1949.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Sufian Qudah, stated today, Thursday, that the Israeli shelling of the Latin Church is an extension of the extreme policies of the Israeli government, which continues its aggression and systematic targeting of innocent civilians in the region.
He emphasized the necessity for Israel, the occupying power, to comply with its obligations under international law, especially humanitarian law, and specifically to refrain from attacking civilian objects and places of worship in the Gaza Strip immediately.
He called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities, and to take effective action to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza immediately, ensuring the delivery of adequate and prompt assistance to the region suffering from an unprecedented humanitarian disaster exacerbated by the aggression.
