Al Hilal Apologizes for Not Participating in the Saudi Super Cup
SadaNews - Reports have revealed that Al Hilal Club has officially apologized to the Saudi Football Federation for not participating in the Saudi Super Cup scheduled to be held in Hong Kong.
According to what was posted by the "Nadina" program's account on the "X" platform, Al Hilal has officially submitted its apology to the Saudi Football Federation, prompting the latter to implement the regulations and rules regarding withdrawal.
The Competitions Committee of the Federation will also take on the task of selecting a replacement team to take Al Hilal's place in the tournament.
Earlier reports indicated that Al Hilal's management had studied the matter thoroughly with the coaching staff, led by Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, who highlighted the level of fatigue the team experienced during its participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
According to the tournament's regulations, Al Hilal is expected to face a financial penalty of around half a million riyals and be banned from participating in the next edition of the secondary tournament.
The Saudi Federation is also expected to require Al Hilal's management to pay financial compensation for the damages and losses resulting from its withdrawal, with the exact amount to be determined by the relevant committee.
Four clubs are participating in the Saudi Super Cup, namely Al Ittihad, the league champion, Al Hilal, the tournament runner-up, Qadisiyah, the King Cup runner-up, and Al Nasr, which finished third in the league.
